Alexander McQueen patterned the heart, cross-stitched passion, wove arteries from all walks of life with platinum threads into a new language of fashion that did not only wear but performed like an angel suspended in the ceiling of ones skull. He painted with emerald brushes using the finest gems of invention, he redifined bronse and steel from metal alloy to adorning lace. He was one of the few brave enough to step in the arena like a fearless lion and face the oppose of beauty, creativity and innovation with his soul on a platter and offer the world everything for nothing.
Alexander McQueen seamed together raw materials from dreams, fantasy, vision and the four corners of imagine into avant garde wardrobes that most would have thought or said, impossible. The world of couture, art, music and dance, bows! Filled with regard and respect for an artisan that came to us with the greatest of reverence for true fashion and design.
The pulse of the fashion industry stopped beating after the news of Alexander McQueen's disheartening death. There really are no answers to the insurmountable questions that are being asked by Alexander's family, friends, colleagues, admirers and media. Sometimes one just finds themselves plummeting in the middle of a tussle with the very foundations that are the cornerstones of life and death. Unfortunately it seems that more often then not the end result is tragic, shocking and filled with despair. One thing that is certain, Alexander's magnificence, brilliance and humanity will be his legacy and not the method of his death.
Alexander's work leaves us breathless and in awe, he brought new life to an industry that found itself caught between stale repetition and imitation. I am honored to post this tribute to Alexander McQueen.
Godspeed, light and grace on your passage Alexander! May you meet up with your mother on your new journey, may it be a blessed tapestry filled with love & light for both of you.
